$ 96.47

Category:
Description This large Lytoceras siemensi for sale, comes from the Lias epsilon 2, or Oelschiefer. It is elsewhere known as Posidoniashale. Lytoceras siemensi is one of the more rare Ammonites in the Oelschiefer. It was quarried in the Kromer family quarry in Ohmden near Holzmaden. It is the last remaining quarry in the area. The fossil is 18 cm or 7 inch. Like to all other fossils from the Oelschiefer a fixative (Tiefengrund) is applied. The plate is 30 x 22,5 cm or 11,75 x 9 inch. Note, that some parts of the Ammonite are only the imprint, which reflects in the bargain price. Lithoceras siemensi is found in the Fleins Lias epsilon 2 (3) and the Untere Schiefer Lias epsilon 2 (4).
